Summertime is a magical season. The kids are out of school, the sunshine seems never-ending, and there’s no shortage of adventures that await. For many, summer evokes fond memories of childhood—sleepaway camp, family vacations, and swimming until your fingers shriveled like prunes. I know for our family, most of summer is spent in the pool!

Of course, summer and sunshine also go hand-in-hand with everyone’s favorite summer fruit—watermelon. Though it’s wonderful to eat simply sliced up, there are also so many creative recipes that incorporate watermelon. On page XX, Denise McCreery shares three that are sure to become staples in your summer rotation (and mine!). In fact, I’m making her Thai Shrimp & Watermelon Salad at a pool party I’m hosting this month!

Of course, while I do have a pool, I don’t have a spa. After reading the article on page XX though, I want one! California Pools & Landscape shares some of their drool-worthy zero edge spa creations—and boy, are they gorgeous!

Although it’s tempting to stay in air-conditioning or my pool all summer, Chandler Parks & Recreation reminds us that even though it’s hot out, summer is still the perfect time to get outdoors and take advantage of everything our city has to offer. Celebrate Park and Recreation Month this month with Chandler Parks & Recreation’s many outdoor activity ideas, programs and events (page XX), and really make the most of your summer.

As for me, I’m planning to do it all—eat watermelon, relax in my pool, take in a concert at Gila River Hotels & Casino, spend time with my family, and just enjoy the season.

Have a wonderful month!
