In honor of the Women’s Issue, I’d like to share an excerpt of a social media post that I wrote for my mom on her birthday:

“Happy birthday to my mom! Thank you for always being there for me. For bringing me homemade soup when I’m sick, stepping up to take care of our girls when we’re down for the count, and always making sure that I’m taking care of myself. Thank you for loving my little family as much as you love your own. You are unbelievable, in the best way possible.”

While this issue isn’t just about moms, it is a shout-out to every woman out there who’s making a positive impact on someone’s life. Whether that’s caring for others or blazing a professional trail for future generations or inspiring people in some way, this issue is my virtual champagne-glass-in-the-air as I toast to you.

Take a look inside and you’ll see our main feature, the 2018 Women of Chandler. After going through dozens of well-deserved nominations, we felt these 12 women were stand-out community leaders who best exemplify courage, strength, perseverance and positivity. They’ve each got a great story to share so I hope you’ll take your time to read their profiles and get to know them.

We’re also taking a peek inside Uptown Bridal’s new(ish) shop. The shop moved from Downtown Chandler to West Chandler about a year ago, when they stumbled upon an old farmhouse, bought it and renovated it into something spectacular. You want “wow” factor? Take a look at the photos!

Planning a girls’ trip? Check out our feature on Coronado Island that shows the best places to go in the area. This popular destination is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway out of the heat!

You’ll read about Kate Mathias, a local author and brain tumor survivor who created a nonprofit organization that raises funds for brain tumor research and provides support for those dealing with the diagnosis.

Happy reading!
