I think it’s safe to say that everyone finds comfort at home. It’s the place where we go to recharge and decompress from our busy lives; where we seek refuge from the hectic, and sometimes chaotic, world. When I was in my 20s, I lived a carefree life. With no responsibilities other than work and paying the rent on time, I lived off ramen and happy hour promotions and traveled the world, savoring every opportunity to soak in new experiences. It was the life!
Yet, no matter how far I went, I felt comfort knowing that my parents’ home was always there for me; a room with a cozy bed that had my name on it. It was … home.
My daughters will grow up and eventually move out to stake their claim in this world—but, just like my parents did for me, I’ve created a home for them, an anchor in the harbor always steady and present and here for them.
Home base. I hope we all have a place that feels like this.
