A Shore Thing 3

Ocotillo Makes Living on a Lake in the
 Middle of the Desert Easy

In the early 1980s, four local property owners had a dream: to create a beautiful, water-filled oasis in the middle of a desert.

As City Planner at the City of Chandler, Jeff Kurtz, notes, the Dobson, Bogle, Lockheed and Smith families joined their properties in south Chandler together to create the master planned Ocotillo community.

Since then, the popular Chandler neighborhood, which covers a 6-square-mile area, has earned a well-deserved reputation for being an ideal place to live.

With its 167 acres of lakes and an impressive 17 miles of shoreline, Ocotillo offers area residents plenty of gorgeous waterfront views.

Although Ocotillo is technically home to 29 lakefront communities, each lake is sourced from one contiguous body of reclaimed water, and all are connected by an elaborate underground pipe system.

“Water, even when treated, is a prized resource in Arizona, but the vision for the Ocotillo community included lakes, and lots of them,” Kurtz says.

“With this in mind, one of the first completed projects had to be a sewage treatment plant that treated the reclaimed water; this project was privately held until it was turned over to the City.”

If you would love to live on a quiet lake in Ocotillo, you may want to consider 4555 S. Exeter Street in the Pinelake Estates neighborhood of Ocotillo listed by Jason Dawson of Chandler Local Listing Pros, a part of Realty Executives.

This home boasts relaxing lakeside views from multiple rooms and includes three master suites, a movie theatre, and butler prep area with additional kitchen storage.

“The kitchen is open and features brand new, slate-finished appliances and refrigerator, ample cabinet and countertop space, a kitchen island, double ovens, gas cook top, walk-in pantry and views out to the backyard and lake,” Dawson says.

The main master suite is privately located upstairs and offers stunning lake and mountain views, a private office, balcony, soaking tub, walk-in shower and large walk-in closet.

“The backyard is amazing with its covered patio, wrap-around viewing deck, diving pool with water feature, built in BBQ, sunken trampoline, private dock, lakefront fire pit and an RV gate,” Dawson describes. This home truly offers waterfront living at its finest.

If finding a waterfront home in the middle of the desert interests you, Jason and his wife, Tanya, are Chandler/Ocotillo residents and waterfront experts. As Dawson says, being a waterfront specialist involves a lot more than just being familiar with Ocotillo—it also requires experience and a special skill set for pricing properties.

“For the most part, the homes and the locations sell themselves, but valuing and pricing them correctly is vitally important,” he says. “It also requires a top-notch marketing plan. Chandler waterfront homes are a perfect fit in our experience of marketing and selling homes quickly and for top dollar.”
