Tailgating Treasures 9

Fall Fun with Family, Friends and Food

Chad and Amy Eby have always had a passion for craft beer.

“Amy and I even met in a craft brewery,” recalls Chad.

In August, the married couple transformed their love of craft beer into a business when they opened The Casual Pint in Chandler.

“Amy and I have lived in this area for over eight years, and we thought it really needed a good place to get craft beer,” says Chad, adding that he has also been a home brewer since 1995. “Arizona has a rapidly growing craft beer market and we wanted to bring the unique coffee-shop-of-beer experience to Chandler’s local community.”

Whether people are looking for a relaxing place to hang out with family and friends while enjoying some delicious beer and light snacks, or if they would like to buy craft beer to bring home, The Casual Pint definitely delivers.

“We have more than 300 different beers to choose from, which guests can grab as six packs or mix-a-sixes. This includes local, national and international brews. We also have an ever-changing 30-tap wall for growler and pint sales,” says Chad.

Fall Brews

Oaktoberfest, from Firestone Walker Brewing Company in Paso Robles, California

Described as a “proper German Märzen bier,” traditional imported malts like Oaktoberfest offer subtle honey-like aromas with hints of Noble hop spice. The imported Pilsner and Vienna malts give the beer a malty sweetness that will carry through to the very last sip.

Chad’s notes:

This was inspired by our hometown of Paso Robles, which means Pass of the Oaks. In true Oktoberfest custom, this beer only makes its debut in September and October.

Peanut Butter Milk Stout from Sleepy Dog Brewing Company in Tempe

Talk about two great tastes paired together—the stout, which is ideal for a Sunday afternoon spent rooting for one’s favorite football team, features the flavors of chocolate malt and creamy peanut butter.

Chad’s notes:

The different flavors combine for a velvety smooth Milk Stout.

Farmer’s Reserve Citrus from Almanac Beer Company in Northern California

Citrus and beer go together like football and fall. Ever since the first lemon wedge was added to a frosty wheat beer, people have enjoyed this winning combination.

Chad’s notes:

Expanding on the popular taste combo of citrus and beer, Farmer’s Reserve Citrus combines the flavors of Meyer lemons, yuzu and blood oranges, along with the zest of Buddha’s Hand citrons and a sour blonde ale.

Oktoberfest from Sierra Nevada in Chico, California

Featuring a deep golden color and a rich malt complexity, Oktoberfest also offers a definite spicy hop character—thanks to the use of the Record hop varietal. Fans of the festival beer will appreciate this tasty version of the classic brew.

Chad’s notes:

Sierra Nevada teams up with a different German brewer every year. This year, the Oktoberfest brew is the result of their partnership with Bamberg, Germany’s Mahrs Bräu.
