Fired Pie opens new location

Fired Pie opened its second Chandler location in July. Located at 1155 West Ocotillo Road Suite 8, the pizza restaurant’s newest site offers the same great selection as its other locations. After three years of business, Fired Pie has grown to 16 locations strong.

The Arizona-based pizza restaurant puts the customer in charge to choose dough type, sauce, and toppings. The pizzeria offers salads, as well. The company recently launched a free loyalty app where customers can earn rewards with each purchase. To learn more about the pizzeria, visit


From Sept. 9 through Oct. 29, The Vision Gallery in downtown Chandler showcases the work of Arizona’s craftsmen, woodworkers, and artists. MAKIN FURNITURE+ displays wood pieces from fine and rare woods, and includes pieces from the American Southwest. The exhibition supports and promotes original work by the state’s great woodworkers. Featured artists include: Doug Forsha, Damon McIntyre, and Kerry Vesper.

About Care Celebrates 10 Years 
of Service

About Care is celebrating 10 years of service by throwing a 10th Anniversary Celebration on Sept. 15 at the Seville Country Club. The theme of the party is 80’s Homecoming and will include food, beverages, dancing, a live band, and a photo booth.

About Care’s mission is to “deliver caring, compassionate support services using trained volunteers with special concern for the elderly and disabled homebound residents of Chandler and Gilbert.” The company provides Chandler and Gilbert’s elderly and disabled residents services to help them remain in their homes, which reduces expenses associated with long-term care. Volunteers have donated more than 150,000 hours and driven one million miles. Services are provided free of charge by trained and compassionate individuals. Ahipoki Bowl Opens in Chandler

The California-based restaurant centers around Hawaiian poke. At Ahipoki Bowl, customers start with a fresh rice or salad base and then add delicious toppings, such as avocado, line cut ahi tuna, salmon, roasted seaweed, and jicama.

The first Ahipoki Bowl in Arizona opened back in April at 2805 North Scottsdale Road. On opening day, the Scottsdale location sold more than 1,300 bowls.

Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation Goes Gold

September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness month and Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation is looking to raise $1 million to support the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. During the month of September, the foundation is encouraging those in the community, including local businesses, to help. Businesses bringing awareness to the cause by lighting up their locations in gold include: The Vig, ACE Hardware, and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer of Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation, Steve Schnall states,

“The funds and awareness raised through the month of September will have a direct impact on children diagnosed with cancer by supporting ongoing research and innovative treatments.”

Nearly 95 patients are treated each day at the center. One of those patients is Bruce, who was diagnosed with cancer last year. 
His mother, Christine Frye states, “Our hope is that there’s another side to this and Bruce can receive treatment and get better and we can live normal lives. Phoenix Children’s is our greatest hope.”

SanTan Brewing Company Releases Fall Seasonal

SanTan Brewing Company’s Oktoberfest Lager is now available. This traditional German lager is brewed annually for SanTan’s Oktoberfest festivities in Downtown Chandler. The lager is a “malty beer with a slight sweet aroma of caramel and spice” and is a great addition to bratwurst, soft pretzels, and the breaded, tenderized meat called schnitzel. Anthony Canecchia, founder and brewmaster of SanTan Brewing Company says,

Toddler Time at Makutu’s Island

Bring your child for a fun filled morning of play and story time every Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Makutu’s Island, located at 6919 W. Ray Rd in Chandler.
