Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers 5

The perfect spot for any man

There’s a new kid on the block and his name is Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers.

They moved into Chandler, this past February and they’ve definitely marked their spot by delivering cold beers, great cheeseburgers and much, much more.

“Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers is a great place to come in and relax with great food, a great view of the game and a cold beverage,” says Chris Etherton, general manager.

Owner S. Barrett Rinzler of Square 1 Concepts has a successful track record of creating many popular restaurant concepts which include the Martini Ranch, Wasted Grain, Arcadia Tavern, Bootlegger (San Diego), Pacific Beach Shore Club (San Diego), a Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers Food Truck and four Cold Beers & Cheeseburgers. CB & CB has three other locations that are in Scottsdale – Grayhawk, which opened in October 2010; Old Town, which opened in July 2013; and Shea which recently opened.

More Than Meets the Eye

Don’t let the 40 flat screen televisions fool you into thinking it’s just a restaurant for watching a game. There’s a wonderful selection of food items thanks to Executive Chef Robert Wagner, who creates all the recipes. You’ll definitely want to check out the “Starters” where you’ll find buffalo chicken eggrolls, CB & CB onion dip, grilled asparagus spears, hummus and pita, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, parmesan truffle fries, buffalo chicken dip, tot chos and hell fire chips. There are also three styles of grilled drummettes and four types of sliders.

I sampled the buffalo chicken dip served with the house made chips and loved the chips and how the dip had a little kick! Everything is hand formed and freshly made that day which isn’t the case for other casual restaurants that use frozen foods. They even the salad dressings and sauces are housemade. Listed on the menu are 16 mouth watering specialty ½ lb. burgers for you to choose from that are unusual and intriguing. These award winning burgers are made with ground chuck. A couple to consider are the prime rib burger with caramelized onions and the lineman burger, which uses two grilled sandwiches as buns – for a total of four slices of bread. All burgers come with a choice of bun (except the lineman) from brioche, wheat, pretzel and gluten-free.

If you’re a burger lover, you may be tempted to participate in the Burger Challenge. You get to decide how many patties you want to try to eat and beat the previous record time. The minimum is three patties. Now remember, these are ½ lb. patties. You’re timed to see how quickly you can eat the number of patties you selected. If you get them down and beat the current champ, then you win your burger, a t-shirt and your name is added to the Burger Challenge board. If not, you buy! The current record is 9 patties (4 1/2lbs.) set in July of 2013.

However, if burgers aren’t your thing, you’ll find other great choices on the menu. There are five types of mac & cheese entrees and eight sandwiches, which include a BLT, club, buffalo chicken, prime dip and more. For salads there’s the classic Caesar, CB&CB salad, a Cobb salad, and an Asian chicken salad. If you like hot dogs, you’re in for a treat as there are ten Stadium Char Dogs to choose from. They’re named after team cities – Chicago, Cincinnati, Colorado, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. There’s also an Arizona dog, a Deep South dog and a Chili Mmmac dog. Be sure to save room for the Tableside S’mores, where you and your party can roast your own marshmallows with Hershey’s chocolate and graham crackers. You may want to keep an eye on the chocolate as it’s known to mysteriously disappear.
